Hank

So this baby finally has a nickname, it's Hank. Jeff and I were discussing baby names and I had highlighted Henry in the baby name book. Well Jeff did not like that one! He said he couldn't believe I wanted to name our baby Hank. So it kinda stuck and now we call this little one Hank. We had our 12 week ultrasound and it was great! My mom and Jeff were both able to be there the whole time and I had my own personal TV screen right in front of me. The baby is so cute and was moving all around and waving and gulping fluid. Our next viewing will be around 20 weeks.

10 weeks 5 days update!

So I had my regular every 4 weeks appointment with the midwife yesterday. All is well. I've only gained 1 lbs but my regular pants are no longer fitting so I think there has been a re-distribution of weight and everything is going to my belly. My blood pressure is nice and low and everything else seems to be going great! The midwife said that my energy should be returning soon which I am really looking forward to. I'd like to be more active but by the time I leave work I'm just spent. I'm so excited for Christmas this year and we will be able to share our news with everyone by then. What a great gift!

Greatest Sound in the World!

So last night I was listening to the greatest sound in the world, the sound of my baby's heartbeat. I have an at-home doppler and so far I LOVE IT! It is so neat to be able to check up on this little one and know that he/she is growing well in there. I'm counting down the days until December 16th when I get my next ultrasound. I see the midwife on December 4th but that's not quite as exciting as seeing the baby on ultrasound. So far I have no complaints about being pregnant. I haven't been too sick and it seems to agree with me. I'm hoping things continue down this smooth road.

Ultrasound

So we had our first ultrasound yesterday. It was an early ultrasound to determine exact dates and check for the heartbeat. So we got to see the baby, which sort of looks like a blob right now, and the heartbeat. The baby is currently 5mm long which is perfect! I felt such relief to see that little flutter on the screen. We went out to celebrate with dinner at the Blue Parrot with my parents. My dad has nicknamed the baby "five" because of it being 5mm. Our next ultrasound will be at 12 weeks. That seems so far away!

Secrets

Keeping this a secret is killing me. Everytime I talk to my sister or my mom I just want to blurt it out. The reason I am waiting is because I really want to tell them in person and they will be home from Kate's in just a few days. We decided that since they are coming home just 3 days before our ultrasound that we will just wait until after the ultrasound to spill the beans. Of course I'll have to tell Kate over the phone either way but I'm waiting until mom and dad are gone before I tell her.

First Post

So this is my first post to this new baby blog. On October 15th, 2008 I had a positive home pregnancy test. A blood test that afternoon confirmed it. I'm around 5 and half weeks pregnant now (due around the end of June)and no one knows except for Jeff and I and the doctor. So far things have been pretty smooth sailing (knock on wood). Next week is our first ultrasound and if all goes well we will share the news with our families after that. I guess that's all for now....
